My Story
Welcome to Wolpert's Woodworking! My name is Jessica Wolpert, the founder and creative mind behind Wolpert’s Woodworking. Originally from Germany, I made Coquitlam, BC my home in 2008 with my parents and sister.
Established in November 2020, I embarked on an exciting journey and founded my own woodworking company. Originally known as Westcoast Woodworking, I underwent a rebranding and name change in 2023 to better reflect my vision.
While studying at University, my passion for business led me to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Human Resource Management, which I proudly obtained in 2023.
Throughout my childhood and teenage years, basketball was a significant part of my life, and I dedicated countless hours to competitive play. However, late 2019 while starting my 2nd year University playing Basketball, I made the decision to transition away from competitive basketball and explore new avenues for personal growth. It was during this time that I rediscovered my love for woodworking—a passion that had initially ignited during my high school years.
Growing up, I was never afraid to dive into hands-on projects and get my hands dirty. I owe this inclination to my upbringing, where I assisted my dad, a skilled contractor, with various tasks.
At Wolpert's Woodworking, I pour my heart and soul into each project, striving to create exceptional pieces that display both artistry and functionality. Woodworking allows me to merge my love for design, artisanship, and the joy of working with my hands.

How It All Began...
In high school, I was eager to join the woodworking class—but also nervous. I knew I would likely be the only girl in the room. Still, with encouragement from my father, I decided to take the leap and enroll in Grade 11 carpentry.
What started as uncertainty quickly turned into passion. I absolutely loved it. The environment, the process, and the people around me—especially the supportive guys in the class—made it an experience I didn’t want to leave behind. By the time I finished all the carpentry courses available, I wasn’t ready to stop. I moved into an independent studies class so I could continue woodworking during my spare blocks and at home.
A few years after high school, when COVID hit, I began experimenting with reclaimed and recycled cedar fence boards—building trays and coffee tables. That’s where everything shifted. What started as small projects soon became the foundation of my business in 2020.
Behind the Brand
Since I was a young girl, I have always loved creating things. That passion eventually grew beyond woodworking and into marketing, design, and entrepreneurship. While studying Marketing at university, I found myself constantly connecting what I was learning in class back to my woodworking business. University became even more exciting because I could immediately apply new ideas, strategies, and skills directly to my business.
One of the things I am most proud of is that nearly everything you see has been created by me. From designing my logo and building my website to creating social media content, developing my brand, and establishing the overall look and feel of Wolpert's Woodworking, it has all been done in-house. The only exception is some of my photoshoots—I may be able to do a lot, but I don't quite have four hands!
Building a business from the ground up has come with plenty of challenges, but each one has been an opportunity to learn something new. I have always believed that if I don't know how to do something, I can figure it out. That mindset has helped me grow not only as a woodworker, but as a business owner, and I continue learning every single day.
Every product, design, and detail reflects the passion, creativity, and dedication that started this journey in the first place.
